Poor contact with your irons? It could be one of a million things wrong. But I’ve got a good drill that tends to do a very good job with a multitude of issues. It’s called the Spoke Drill.

I got it from Jim McLean and it’s really kind of what it sounds like.

So you’re going to make your arms nice and long, like the spokes of a wheel, but we’re going to do it with your club.

So put the club in, touch your chest bone, and then extend your arms so they’re out. Making a nice grip, see that? So, if I pull in the club, I can’t go like this because if I do it, I will literally impale myself.

Then take your forward bend, you’re gonna do tiny little moves, little chips. So now my elbows can’t bend my wrist can’t break.

Look what this does. It gets everything nice and quiet with my arms, and it’s forcing me to feel my trunk doing the motion, then let the club go. Hold it in the grip and see if you can duplicate it. And that’ll be a nice starting point for you to get back to confident strong solid strikes.
