Putting Practice Games

Have some fun while you groove great putting habits. LPGA Instructor and Legends Tour Player Cindy Miller has 8 great games to play alone or with your friends on the practice putting green.

North East West South (NEWS)

Putt four balls from 3 feet away on each point of the compass. If you miss one you have to start again.

Putting Onesies

Hole 10 balls from a 1-foot circle with your back hand only. This game will help you watch that the putter face is square to the target. Miss one … you must start over!

Up and Down Putting Ladder

The Up and Down Ladder game will help you get the ball up to the hole but not so far past that you three putt.

NEWS 3 6 9

A more difficult version of the NEWS Putting Game. This time we have 3-foot putts, and 6-foot putts … and 9-foot putts.

High Time

Keeping the ball on the high side of the hole gives it more opportunities to fall in. The High Time game will help you practice this skill.

9 Foot Drawback

Line up from 9 feet away from the hole, if you miss the putt, draw the ball back one putter shaft length away from the hole. This game will help you to make sure you two-putt or better from 9 feet.

Croquet

Strategically steer your way through four gates in this putting game for sharpshooters.

Two Tee Putting Drill

Putt like a demon by learning to start the ball on the right path with two tees.

Editor’s note: We received this series of videos courtesy of Cindy Miller and PhaseGolf, a golf business that was planning to develop the practice manual that Cindy mentions a couple of times in the videos. Unfortunately, the practice manual never happened because shortly after filming PhaseGolf went out of business. I didn’t want Cindy’s excellent videos to not be used.
