3 Easy Ways to Put Spin on Your Wedge Shots

Before you get too technical make sure you have the basics right. Trillium Rose has three tips for getting more spin on your wedge shots.
3 Easy Ways to Get Spin on Your Wedge Shots

These are the non-technical ways to put spin on your wedge shots – the low hanging fruit. I’ll get into the technical elements that produce spin in another post. For now, at least get these parts right.

Use a premium ball. They are NOT all the same. Only the premium balls have the capability of spinning. For example a Titleist ProV1, Prov1x, or AVX.

Keep your wedge grooves clean, dry, and preferably new. The rule of thumb is 40-60 rounds before you need to replace that wedge.

Aim for spin only on tighter lies rather than in the rough. It’s much harder to spin a ball if there is interference between the club face and ball with grass or debris, and water does the same thing so you’ll get less spin on rainy days or early in the morning when there’s dew on the ground.
