Should I Use my Sand Wedge or Pitching Wedge?

Cathy Kim explains what goes into your club choice when you have a wedge into the green.

In this video I’m playing to two flags to show my decision making process. Your club choice around the green will usually depend on the amount of green there is to work with. Assess the ratio of fairway to green on the shot.

If your shot is 50/50 fairway to green then sand wedge is probably your best choice because the ball will go higher and roll less.

If there is more green than fairway between you and the flag then reach for your pitching wedge or even your 9-iron because the ball will fly lower and roll out a bit longer.
