Why do I Lose my Balance after I Hit a Shot?

Are you falling off your shots and losing your balance? Natalie Adams shows how to maintain your balance throughout the swing to improve your strike, consistency, and distance control.

Your Action Plan

What: Your goal is to improve your balance throughout the swing to prevent falling off your shots and to improve your overall ball striking.

Why: Proper balance is fundamental to a consistent golf swing. Falling forward, backward, or to either side indicates a loss of balance and will cause poor contact and accuracy.

How:

  • Find a Balanced Setup: At address, feel the pressure balanced between your heels and toes, as well as your right and left feet.
  • Shift Your Weight Correctly: In the backswing, feel the pressure move from the toes to the heel of your trail foot. On the downswing, feel the pressure move to the heel of your lead foot.
  • Maintain Your Center: Work on turning your body around a stable center point instead of swaying side to side.
  • Practice with Feet Together: For a great drill, practice making swings with your feet together to train your body to maintain a stable center of gravity.
