Your Action Plan
What: Your goal is to learn the proper setup and technique for playing a buried lie (fried egg) in the bunker, particularly when the ball is up against the lip.
Why: A buried ball requires a unique, aggressive, and steep swing to overcome the lack of grass cushioning and the surrounding sand, ensuring the ball simply pops out of the trap.
How:
- Select Your Club: Use your most lofted sand wedge (54-60 degrees of loft).
- Aim the Clubface: Point the clubface directly at your target.
- Set a Closed Stance: For a right-handed player, aim your body 45 degrees to the right of the target line.
- Dig In: Dig your feet into the sand for a stable, low base.
- Swing and Chop: Swing back along your body line and CHOP with authority! Your primary goal is to get the ball out of the bunker.
