Your Action Plan
What: Your goal is to improve your chipping by intentionally adding a “dead halt” in your swing to regulate your tempo and smooth out your transition.
Why: A quick downswing is often a result of mental anxiety, leading to poor contact and inconsistent chips. This technique helps calm your mind and forces you to rotate your chest, not your hands.
How:
- Add the Halt: In your backswing, come to a complete, momentary stop.
- Stay Connected: Keep your upper arms connected to your chest throughout the swing.
- Rotate Through: From the top of your swing, rotate your chest left to power the shot instead of using your hands.
- Practice the Uncomfortable: Expect to feel awkward at first and be patient as you learn the new, smoother rhythm.
