Indoor Book Putting Drill

The Book Putting Drill from Maria Palozola is a great indoor drill for working on your path, face, and making sure you're hitting the sweet spot.

This drill is the triple whammy! You can work on hitting the ball in the sweet spot, keeping the face square and a solid path all at once.

The first thing you will need is 2 thick books. Just lay them on the ground with the spine of the books running parallel to each other and at your target. They should be positioned apart just wider than the width of your clubhead.

Next, lay a ball in the middle and start rolling puts. Because the books provide a border for you it will be impossible to miss the sweet spot of the putter. Having the narrow path and the edges of the books as a guide, it is easy to see if your putter head is remaining square or trying to swing open and closed too much. In fact, with the books being so close together, it’s hard to open and close the putter face much at all without a lot of manipulation. It will bring you back to a more natural shoulder swing and encourage dead hands through the stroke.

Lastly, it will help you tremendously if you are a player that putts on a straight path by grooving a straight attack through impact.
