Find the Perfect Golf Impact Position With the Hockey Stick Drill

Susan Vail from Pink Peg Golf demonstrates her hockey stick practice drill designed to improve your golf swing and give you more distance.

The hockey “slapshot” is much like the perfect impact position in the golf swing. If you are searching for more loft, increased distance, and a better position at the top of your swing, find your favorite hockey player and grab a stick!

Find the Perfect Impact Position With My Hockey Stick Drill

Place your left hand at the top of the stick and the right hand positioned with separation much lower, tilt into a good posture with a wide stance or base.

The separation of the hands is the key piece in this drill.

Then simply pivot to the top of the swing…a pivot is the rotation of the hips back and through. The pivoting to the top be sure that you create a good extension with your arms…. by following this sequence correctly you will have created a strong set position at the top of your backswing.

Be sure you have loaded into your right hip and to start the downswing from the position lead with the left hip, fire the left side and you will return a strong impact position.

Have fun with this hockey stick drill and enjoy hitting more greens!!!
