Definitions: A ‘tight pin’ is where the hole is cut very close to the edge of the green or to a hazard like a bunker or water with not much green to run the ball along the ground. A ‘tight lie’ is a term used in golf to describe a ball on a hard surface with very little grass to create space between the ball and the ground.
