Your Action Plan
What: Your goal is to improve your greenside bunker shots by focusing on a three-part setup and swing that prevents common mistakes.
Why: Greenside bunker shots are challenging due to the sand acting as a buffer. Using these techniques will help you generate the necessary loft and power to get the ball out cleanly without leaving it in the bunker.
How:
- Add Loft: Open the clubface by pointing the toe of the club toward “2 o’clock” before you take your grip.
- Lower Your Lead Shoulder: Push the handle of the club slightly back towards your right thigh to keep your left shoulder parallel to the ground.
- Do Not Decelerate: Swing with consistent speed through the ball to avoid hitting too much sand and leaving the ball behind.
