LPGA Reshuffles 2023 Priority List

Tony Jesselli identifies the players most affected by the first reshuffle of the 2023 LPGA Priority List. The Priority List is used to determine which players are eligible to compete in LPGA tournaments.

The LPGA had its first reshuffle of its Priority List this week. While most of the players moved up or down a few insignificant spots, there were some very significant moves also.

The Priority List is used to fill the required amount of spots for any given tournament. Without me getting into the categories, which is potentially confusing, here is a brief explanation. Most full field events have a field of 144 players. Usually 140 of the players come from the Priority List ranking. Two players are Monday qualifiers, and 2 more are sponsor invitees. So to keep it simple, if your Priority Rating is #150, you have to hope that 10 players decide not to play, or you are probably not getting into the field.

The following players made some of the biggest leaps up the Priority List:

Ruoning Yin – 115 to 100

Hae Ran Ryu – 136 to 102

Aditi Ashok – 134 to 103

Yu Liu – 131 to 104

Peiyun Chien – 126 to 105

Sarah Kemp – 132 to 110

Caroline Inglis – 135 to 112

Lauren Hartlage – 145 to 111

Minami Katsu – 140 to 115

Although the jumps made by the above players look good on paper, it is not that significant as they were playing all full field events anyway.

The following players made the most important gains, and should now be playing in most (if not all) full field events:

Natthakritta Vongtaveelap – 160 to 109

Yuna Nishimura – 161 to 116

Jaravee Boonchant – 158 to 117

Min Lee – 159 to 143

Pavarisa Yoktuan – 160 to 119

Dewi Weber – 167 to 147

Mi Hyang Lee – 189 to 148

Charlotte Thomas – 166 to 149

The following players are not guaranteed to play all full field events, but have a much better chance than before the reshuffle:

Jin Yan – 171 to 152

Arpichaya Yubol – 182 to 154

Christina Kim – 221 to 155

Maria Torres – 434 to 159

Yaeeun Hong – 190 to 162

Magdalena Simmemacher – 174 to 165

Amy Olson – 185 to 171

Allison Emery – 187 to 172

Jeongeun Lee5 – 184 to 174

Ilhee Lee – 243 to 166

The following players saw their rankings drop and will probably be seeing less playing time than before the reshuffle:

LPGA Player – Alexa Pano

Mel Reid – 71 to 144

Karis Davidson – 142 to 165

Aline Krauter – 139 to 153

Inis Laklalech – 149 to 156

Samantha Wagner – 141 to 157

Polly Mack – 151 to 158

Luna Sobron Galmes – 147 to 160

Valery Plata – 136 to 163

Alexa Pano – 156 to 168

Linnea Johansson – 143 to 169

The following players got hurt the most, and will be seeing very little playing time or none at all.

Ayaka Uehara – 86 to 191

Riley Rennell -155 to 173

Kum-Kang Park – 144 to 175

Isa Gabsa – 146 to 176

Elinor Sudow – 153 to 177

Dani Holmqvist – 157 to 178

Karen Chung – 163 to 180

Manon De Roey – 164 to 181

Louise Ridderstrom – 169 to 182

Jenny Coleman – 172 to 183
