Maria Palozola's Level Out Drill teaches you to flatten your swing plane and angle of attack to help prevent hitting down too steeply and hitting the ground behind the ball.

How to do the Level Out Drill

Start with a short iron and take your normal set up. Then raise the club up about waist high and make some level practice swings swinging on a plane similar to that of hitting a baseball.

After you have the feel of coming into the ball on a more level angle of attack the next step is to try to apply that feel to a shot.

Begin hitting balls trying to feel more level as you come into the ball. Every couple of swings alternate between practice swings and actual hits.
